Golden reel qualifier larford lakes

Today was my first golden reel qualifier and 2nd visit to larford lakes. Was just hoping to draw on sum fish.
Was greeted with bright sunshine
So in to pay the pools and see where everyone wants to draw. Seemed like either end of match lake and close end of specie no one wanted arena lake.
So got called in to the draw quite early and pulled out 39 match lake
Lovely really fancied the peg. On arrival there were a few fish showing near the island and in my right hand margin. So plan was rig for the island with corn or pellet. A slapping rig for shallow half way. And margin rig either side.on the horn i through out a sprinkle of 4mm and big potted some gb and mags in the left margin. For the first 30 mins I was slapping the rig around and pinging a few pellets about to no avail so went on the bottom with 6mm expander where I'd been pinging float buried straight away nice lil skimmer but not what I needed topped up with the cad pot and had a small carp bout 2 pound lovely !!!
Went in again and not a lot was happening so decided to try my left margin  4 mags went on the hook it was in for 20 seconds then buried so I struck like lunatic for a 4 oz perch to come flying out the water poor lil fella he was ok though swam off into my keepnet in a sulk !! πŸ˜‚ right what to do next thought I would try long to the island so my ever faithful strawberry corn came out and a few in the cad pot squashed down with some pellet to stop them bouncing out had a liner straight away and then was in again to another small carp around 2 pound . Went over again and the wind picked up making presentation over there difficult. So went back on the expanders down the middle added 2 more skimmers and another small carp. Then that went quiet. Have a look down the right then strawberry corn and 4mms cad potted in and I was in straight away to a slightly better fish around 4 pound. Then had a run of 3 more smaller carp then foul hooked one and that line died. So from then on just kept rotating my lines for the rest of the day picking off odd fish nothing massive all carp between 2 and 4 pound nice days fish in the last 30 mins down the middle was solid with fish but was too late. I lost one just before the horn right at the net 😑😑. People around me didn't seem to be catching much so thought I may have scraped a section at the scales I put 57.04 on which was a nice days fishing the bloke to my left did 27 pound and the bloke to my right dnw further round the bay to my left was 40 pound and opposite me did 59 pound for a section win not sure what section I was in but think my 10 peg section was won with 100 pound. But the match and specie lake had fished hard. With the top 5 weights coming from arena lake where no one wanted !!!! The winner had 200.03.all in all a nice day taking a pound of the bait tech bagger tom downing and rubbing shoulders with some of the best match anglers in the country like Andy power Jamie Hughes and perry stone. And not embarrassing my self πŸ˜‚ off to the glebe in two weeks to try again bring it on thanks for reading hope everyone had a great day until next time πŸŸπŸŸπŸŸπŸŽ£πŸŽ£πŸŽ£πŸ˜ƒπŸ˜ƒπŸ˜ƒπŸ€š

Sedges 6th and final round

Well last round today weather looked good lets do it!!!
Was just hoping for a nice days fishing today because I was out of the running for top 5 so no pressure.
Went in to the bucket of dreams pulled 22 tile looked ok but a bit Carpy for my liking!!
So plan was pellet over pellet at 10m and go further if needed. I put a worm and caster line in top 5 to the right. For company had Alvin jones again to my left so least we would have a laugh and up from him Nigel garret both good anglers. So at the all in I fed gb caster and chop worm to the right and went straight in at 10 m cad pot 4mm and micros and 4mm expander on the hook. Had bites straight away missed a couple dotted my float right down then didn't miss a thing then I caught steady for the first hour hardly feeding a thing had 8 small skimmers and a small tench and a small carp give me the run around Alvin was catching slower but better quality fish 😒.so then the sun got going and like a switch there were carp every even slurping my float cruising right up to the keep net  they just didn't care I had to feed even less than I was already but it didn't matter what ever I did just had carp after carp after carp with the odd skimmer in between. So I thought I'd give the 10m a line a rest see if the carp would move away put a small worm head on went on the top 5 60 seconds float buried and am getting arm ache of a large carp I got it to the net and it came off was a proper munter getting on for 20pound !!!! So just picked away at my 10 m line. Had a good bit of banter with Alvin he was telling me I'm winning the section which I New I wasn't as Alvin fish were all over a pound nearer 2 and big tench he had !!!! Last hour went dead except for carp and was quite burnt by the end. The horn went and Jamie was round with the scales I had 34 skimmers and 1 tench for 18 pound Alvin has then put on 18.11. Cheers then 2 weeks on the trot he's bashed me up from next door !!!! FairPlay to him !!! I came 3rd in section only just beating Nigel garret. Shane pope from Weston had the best weight on tile lake 21 pound +. On to brick lake me mate Sam Johnson was filling in for Wayne he managed to win his section off peg 5 with 20 something pounds my other mate mark Thorne who had been in top form of late and has definitely worked out the silvers at sedges was sandwiched between jonny page and bob gullick tough section but FairPlay to the lad he smashed them both up winning the match again with 34 pound giving him 2nd overall in the series well done mate !!! Jamie parkhouse managed to draw in a section of 2 with him and ziggy and ended up winning the series. Herd ziggy got bored and started slapping for carp πŸ˜‚πŸ˜‚πŸ˜‚jonny page came 3rd overall Alvin jones 4th and Ron stark 5th well done to all. I had to give Sam Johnson mark Thorne and jonny page a nugget as they all beat me again. Il be back !!!!never mind hopefully il draw a peg with that many carp in next week where il be entering my first big money qualifier of the year golden reel at larford lakes . Hope every one had a good day thanks for reading🐟🐟🐟🐟🎣🎣🎣🎣

Sedges round 5 silvers

Well it was 5th round of sedges silvers series the weather looked like it would be nice if the wind stayed off but it was a cold night and north easterly winds. Right so it was all to play for today  I was sitting in 12th before today's results but it was joint 5th so all to play for needed a good result today to try and finish in the top 5.
Any way into the draw and I've pulled out peg 4 brick 😫😫the cold wind was blowing in there and didn't look nice only bonus was 1 2 and 3 not In.for company on 5 had Alvin jones we a good chat and a bit of a laugh through the match. On the opposite bank could see jonny page and Jason fearn living the dream in t shirts 😎😎😎. For me the fishing was pour started on the tip 3 bites no fish and snapped hooklength from a carp
Alvin next door was doin the same but think he landed a small skimmer and 40 mins in he's gone on the pole and it was solid in front of him first put in 2 pounder 2nd put in he's waving a 4 pounder at me saying look at this old dog !!!!! So I've gone in on mine had hardly any signs and struggled while next doors having one a chuck smaller skimmers ffs. So kept feeding trying my different lines hooking and losing odd carp then 1 o clock has a belting run of 3 small skimmers then nothing 😑😑😑 wasn't getting any signs so went out further kept trying different lines couldn't get a pull except from carp. Couldn't wait for it to end to be honest. It was a very uncomfortable day with cold wind in the face again!!!! But sunshine all day even got burnt  so at the scales I've weighed in 1 pound 3 oz for a nice last in section cheers !!!! To top it off me mucker mark Thorne won his section and jonny page so payed them the usual nugget and they are both now in contention for a top 3 finish well done lads. Never mind on to the final round next week see if I can get some consolation section money or at worst case win me nuggets back of pagey and thorney. πŸ˜ƒπŸ˜ƒπŸ˜ƒuntil next time hope everyone had a great day πŸ‘‹πŸ‘‹πŸŽ£πŸŽ£πŸŽ£πŸŽ£πŸŸπŸŸπŸŸπŸŸ

Sedges silvers rnd 4

Peg 35 today tile lake wind blowing a hooligan In my face all day. So set the gb feeder up and 2 pole lines at about 10 m ish. One with expander over 4mm and the other corn and pellet. After last weeks bad result for me wasn't expecting much but was confident of a few fish. So the horn sounded from next door making me jump πŸ˜‚ I fed the two pole lines and chucked out the tip with my faithful double pinky and single white was trying to see what Jamie cook the fishery owner was up to and my rod was being pulled off the rest . After a 5 min scrap with an angry carp around 8 lb it was netted and returned safely. Jamie seemed to be catching from the off on pole but I thought I'd chuck the tip back out. 15 motionless mins passed with a nice brew out the flask. Right time for the pole as Jamie was catching first put in 4mm expander float buried struck and nothing undeterred and anxious knowing there was something there I stuck at it presentation was difficult due to the wind but finally it went again and up to the surface nice bream around 2 pound lovely here we go cad potted in a sprinkle of 4mm and away we go I was getting regular bites but the skimmers were getting smaller I missed a few bites and 2 come off at the net think I was pulling too hard got excited but the bites dried up and the wind got worse so potted in a big pot left it for half hour went on the tip not a sniff on that.back on the expanders carp about 4 pound scraping away I was hoping it was a tench !!! Then the wind went even worse it was mental bait boxes were flying towels and all sorts I nearly smacked the bloke to my right with my pole as the wind took it that way was clinging on for dear lifeπŸ˜‚πŸ˜‚ then my guru bait brolley with my side tray decided to go for a fly !!!  All my bait was on the floor it nearly smashed 2 top kits 😱😱😱so I'm now down on my hands and knees in mud trying to salvage my bait πŸ˜‚πŸ˜‚πŸ˜‚ I nearly went home cos it was nearly un fishable at times but I took a deep breath went and had a chat with mark Thorne who was bagging up behind me and reset my self I struggled for the rest of the match missing bites and landing couple more skimmers and another carp. Finally horns gone made me jump again thank god it was over packed up pretty quick and waited to be weighed and watched the weighing behind me  shane pope section winner  mark Thorne said he had 25 pound turned out he won the match with 46lb well done bud scales came to me thought I was last in section as Jamie seemed to be catching and the bloke to my right but I weighed in 6.08 lb followed the weigh and I done enough to win the section happy days glad I stayed 😁😁😁😁 thanks for reading tight lines until next time πŸŽ£πŸŽ£πŸŽ£πŸŽ£πŸŽ£πŸŽ£πŸŽ£πŸŽ£πŸŽ£πŸ˜œπŸ˜œπŸ˜πŸ˜πŸ˜ƒπŸ˜ƒπŸ˜ƒπŸ˜±πŸ˜‚πŸ˜‚

Sedges rnd 3 silvers series

Here was my peg for the day 37 tile lake. Speaking to the lads it hasn't fished that well in the last couple of rounds but I felt confident of a few. The wind was coming left to right and slightly in my face and it was supposed to get worse as the day went on. And that it did indeed!!! So change of plan for me I thought fish the pole early and when it gets unfishable switch to the tip . The horn sounded and I fed 2 lines at 13m one with gb and pinky other with micros with a few 4mms.i also fed a line at top 4 with mags and pinky in the hope of small roach eel or anything really. Went in on the pellet line for 40 mins without a sniff so switched to the gb line and missed a bite straight away so persevered on that line and finally had a small skimmer. By this time Simon ryal on my left had a small tench and good skimmer on the tip glyn Wycombe on my right was also catching small skimmers on the tip. So I kept switching my lines to no avail and the wind picked up so went on the tip couldn't get a bite I sat on the tip for a while trying to figure out what to do kept trying the pole lines with nothing to show for my efforts!!right re clipped the tip rod sent out 6 feeder fulls and sat on it Simon was taking the mick and laughing at me but he did have the right to as I opened my big mouth before the match saying I would take some easy points off him !!!!πŸ˜‚πŸ˜‚ after 20 mins or so the tip went round and I was in another small skimmer was hoping for more but it was really slow the wind was pushing hard left to right tried to go on my pole lines a couple of times but couldn't present the bait properly. I even re plumbed and put in an edge line in the hope of something anything!!!! I added one more small skimmer and weighed in 2 pound dead which was last in section. So the wheels fell off today this was my worst result this year in hindsight should've gone on the tip all day but don't think it would of made much difference Simon weighed 6 pound and glyn weighed 3. Jon fuidge won are section with around 12 pound ish I think but we could hear him moaning from the start !!😜😜also my 3 pals beat me today winning some of there quids back that I've taken off them in previous weeks well done jonny page who won his section with 12 pound and Wayne staples with 6 pound mark Thorne with 3 pound !!!!! Onwards and upwards sedges again next week hope for a better draw and no wind !!! Hope everyone had a good day and thanks for reading πŸ˜ƒπŸ˜ƒ

Larford classic qualifier/open

Well booked on this match Friday to try and get a feel for the place as never fished it before and I've booked on the golden reel qualifier in April.so left my house at 7 am and turned up bang on 830 to this  lovely today was on specimen lake that's the far lake. It was very cold and a bitter wind was coming left to right. So out of the van and star chatting to the guy parked next to me Jamie Harris (matrix) I was trying to get as much info as poss and he was very helpful. So inside to pay the money and get a brew chatting with the locals and listening mainly!!! Phil briscoe said just sit on the method all day. Everyone wanted to draw 78 where grant allbut (drennan) emptied it from last week with 220 odd pound !!! But it wasn't in 76 was closest so my name got called into the draw I pulled out peg 12 on the burr bank which is not too far from the middle Jamie Harris said you should get a few skimmers there so I was quite keen. This is what I was greeted with.
So set up method rod . Cage feeder and the pole for 13m buy this time the wind was howling through from left to right waves crashing against me platform I just managed to plum up the pole line in the wind and thought I wouldn't fish it unless the wind died down later in the match.
My usual organised chaos!!!! I had last weeks winner to my left and his mate a venue regular to my right neither of which had even set up the pole.
All in was shouted so I looked around a bit and followed suit chucking the method out about 50m the same as grant to my left. The chap on my right was putting a bit of bait in through the cage feeder. Not a lot was happening bit of rain was pounding the left side of me!!! So I started switching hook baits on the method to no avail while grant to my left netted a near on double figure carp and the bloke to my right had a good skimmer and a roach. Well I gotta do something or I'm gonna blank at this rate. It was now about 1 o clock and I hadn't had a sniff. So five small feeders full of gb with a very few dead pinkys and mags in at about 20m then baited the 16 hook with 2 pinkys and a big juicey white!!!! 2 mins and boom tips gone round and I've landed a bream around 2 pound thank god no blank πŸ˜ƒπŸ˜ƒ
Goes out again and another one in the net get in I could get used to this!!! So I stuck on that tip line for a couple of hours putting the odd skimmer in the net but they seemed to be getting smaller I also missed a couple of bites and one fell off at the net 😑then as quick as it started it died and couldn't get a bite on it I tried further out left and right a bit but nothing. Between putting the odd skimmer in the net I managed to feed my pole line with a pot of pellet. So was approaching the last hour now and I desperately needed a carp so I tried a 6mm expander on the pole strawberry corn and maggot couldn't get a bite chucked the method out couldn't get a bite so went back out on gb feeder added 1 final small skimmer then couldn't get a bite. All in was called thank god. Scales came to me I put 8.06 pound on them which was a thank you pls try again πŸ˜‚πŸ˜‚ grant before me put 30 pound something on 2 carp and some skimmers his mate to my right then put 8.03 on πŸ˜ƒπŸ˜ƒ so I beat someone lol!!! Turned out there was a couple of dnw and a few other weights below mine😁 so not too bad I think Jamie Harris won the match with 35 pound and he landed a 22 pounder near the end. Well done to him and everyone else toaday the weather was testing and must say everyone was quite friendly and open with info. Didn't think I would do well today it was all about learning for april hopefully have another go before then. Don't think I'm fishing next weekend so il give you a rest from my blog !!! Tight lines to all until next time thanks for reading πŸ‘πŸ‘πŸ‘πŸŽ£πŸŽ£πŸŽ£πŸ˜ƒπŸ˜ƒ

Sedges rnd 2 silvers series

Well today sedges again the weather looked ok for it as long as the wind didn't pick up too much.cup of tea chat with the lads. Draw time I scrambled somewhere near the front fought my way in to the bucket of dreams!!! Pulled out peg 15 brick lake (2 along from last week) right in the middle of the lake I fancied it for a few fish until 2 anglers rocked up either side of me. So plan of attack same as last week gb and pinky line 13m at 11o clock and pellets 13m at 1 o'clock. Also gb feeder 16 hook this week for double pinky tipped with a big juicey white maggot  at the all in fed my 2 lines and chucked out the feeder poured a brew first slurp and the tips twitching boom nice little skimmer to save the blank. Straight back out after 5 mins had a little knock but nothing out again and had a better skimmer of around a pound come on!!!  Out again and it flew round proper un getting on for 2 pound ooosh then it went a bit quite so 40 mins in have a look on the pole as the 2 to my left were catching steady but small stamp fish. Couldn't get a bite over the gb and pinky line all day kept trying it and feeding it but nothingπŸ™πŸ™ so on to the pellet line kept cad potting in micros and a few 4mm expanders and caught in little spells of fish on this line but they kept backing off didn't want to chase them to 16m so just kept switching to fishing on my feed and just past it but had to keep resting the line. So flicked between the tip and this line for the rest of the day putting odd fish in the net all skimmers from 4 oz to a pound. Nice days fishing had 17 skimmers for 14.07 winning the section comfortably and second on the lake and I think 3rd overall chap called Nigel won are lake with 14.10 and Jamie parkhouse won tile with 16 pound I think giving my mate mark Thorne a section default win (love a default ) πŸ˜‚πŸ˜‚ but him and Wayne had to give me a pound and jonny page writ me an I owe u πŸ‘Šbut he did well also winning his section with 12 pound  look forward to the next round in 3 weeks hope everyone had a nice day and tight lines to all πŸ‘πŸ‘πŸŸπŸ˜ƒπŸ˜ƒπŸ˜ƒ
