sedges silver series rnd 1

Thought today was gonna be hard what with rain we had last night plus temps been up and down a bit this week. So I arrived at the fishery jonny page saying he was gonna take a pound off me. Cup of tea and into the draw I wanted tile lake but no I pulled out 13 brick unlucky for some. Got to my peg passing a not best pleased Jon fuidge who wasn't happy to see me rock up next door!!!!!
Anyway order of the day 2 lines gb and pinkie 11 o clock at 13m (I can see again went to specsavers)and micros and expanders at 1 o'clock the pinkie line I used a drennan as5 1g pencil float to o.10 mainline to 0.08 bottom with a 18 drennan maggot hook.On the pellet line as6 bodied 1g float with same main line and bottom and 18 pellet hook.
I also set the tip up gb feeder 12 inch hook length 18 hook.
At the all in I put a pot on my 2 lines. And then chucked the feeder out managed 2 lil skimbobs on that  in the first hour but not much else. After 2 cups of coffee and a few haribos! Let's get on the pellet line  sat there biteless for 10 mins or so kept switching to the gb line and not a lot was happening except I was getting pretty wet! Any way I sat it out on the pellet line just cad potting a few expanders and a few micros here and there and had a proper skimmer a right knobbly old boy never the less very welcome as I could see next door and further down people having a few this died really so big potted in and had another skimmer yeah bring it on I thought next put in float buried carp doh bloody great thing I teased it in the net then as I tried to unhook it it decided to roll around and snap my rig cheers mr carp.so big potted some micros in again and some gb on the other line and chucked the tip out while sorting rig out had a lil skimbob again then it came off at net cheers. Back on pellet line nothing was doing yet so back to the gb and pinky line float buried out of the blue but only a small roach as reward then bite less . I was really struggling into the last hour and a half now concentrate on the pellet line so put my small extension on to take me just past the feed and had a nice skimmer straight away I then had a nice little run of 4 skimmers but they got smaller with each bite it was now absolutely chucking it down the light was poor I then bumped one spooked them couldn't get another bite and the horn sounded thank god it's over. Looking round the lake didn't see the opposite bank catching much but the lads on my bank all had a few the scales reached me and I weighed in 9.13lb next Jon fuidge put 11lb on then 14.01 then 2lb then Jamie park house put 14.03 on to win the lake section and match so no pick up for me 😫😫 but look at it another way 4th on lake and overall 2 lakes the other bank and lake fished rock hard with Alvin winning tile lake with 6lb odd and 5lb was top weight on my opposite bank. The only bonus was taking another pound of me 3 pals jonny page mark Thorne and Wayne staples😜😜 tight lines to everyone hope u had a better day than me next week is round 2 let's hope I can get better section points. Sorry no pics again but they were rubbish wet and miserable pics anyway !!!!

Shiplate main lake open

Well after a couple of very Icey nights thought it was gonna be a bit frozen but luckily sat night it did not freeze so that was a bonus but still thought the fishing would be hard.after a few tx yesterday telling me to shine my pound from jonny page and steve Howell I shined them up and arrived at the fishery cup of tea and bit of banter and it was draw time i wanted to get in early today for some reason it was like a scrap trying to get in the bucket I pulled out 14b I thought not too bad but when me mate mark Thorne pulled out 15 didn't think I had much chance and Dominic on peg 1 I was just about ready at the all in
Order of the day was bomb and bread, 2 silvers lines at about 11m and a margin rig set up. At the all In I didn't feed anything just chucked out my 10g ollivette with 12 inch hook link and guru 16 hook with bait band pulled through 10mm punch. Thought I would see what everyone else was doin didn't wanna kill it with bait before I started. So cup of coffee 2 chucks later the tip twitched and dropped back so I lifted and could feel a nice lil lump pulling back( slowly gently I was saying to my self cos I get a bit excited at times pull to hard and lose it ) so finally slipped the net under a nice golden 4 pounder ish. So kept chucking for the next hour with only the odd liner. Nigel to my right looked to be catching a few silvers couldn't see much else happening so I potted in half a cup of micros straight in front and some ground bait and dead maggot at 2 o clock. Went out with 4mm expander and was struggling to see float as lost my glasses god knows so messed around a little bit changing colours of float switching lines no bites what so ever that I could see anyway so back on the tip tried an orange wafter but nothing so back to the bread kept getting little liners so I thought and just to see I hit one and felt a solid resistance (slowly gently)πŸ˜ƒπŸ˜ƒnetted a better fish around 8 pound
so stuck at it had 2 more and missed 1 right near the end. My 4 fish weighed in at 27.09 I could see Dom on peg 1 having lots of bites but he kept losing them thought it would be close in the end he had 30 pound to take1st I was 2nd and golly was 3rd with 16 pound Julian pinkett took the silvers with 11 pound 9 I think and jonny page 2nd with 11.6 I think but best bit was taking a nugget of venue expert steve Howell who blanked πŸ˜‚πŸ˜‚πŸ˜‚ and me mate mark Thorne on the flyer next door also jonny page and Wayne staples but a nice day was had and not as cold as expected.
Tight lines to all it's the start of sedges silvers series next week hopefully can catch some good skimbobs there and not freeze too much πŸ˜ƒπŸ˜ƒπŸ‘πŸ‘πŸ‘

2nd match this year

Well today was a silver fish only match as an invite only at a non publicity water in Somerset. So the banter started straight away soon as I pulled up with Jonny page and ray bass gagging to take a pound of me. The lake was dead still water quite clear but the weather looked good. So in to the draw I've pulled out 19 not too bad as I have won the silvers from this peg in the summer with plenty of depth in front I wanted a simple match today as had a tough week so just set one rig up which I could fish 2 spots at 11m one at 11 o clock and 2 o'clock. At the all in I was just about ready so I put a small helping of micros with a couple of expanders in for good measure and went in didn't have a sniff on it so changed to double white maggot and the float buried straight away with an angry carp giving me the run around for 10 mins I slipped the net under a plump 12 pound gohstie then snap goes my landing net cheers. So after 5 mins sorting spare handle cad potted some casters in and fished double caster over the top bout 20 mins passed with not an indication then out of nowhere nice bream around 3 pound mark went in the net thank god as jonny page was bagging and titch to my right was playing his second carp on the wag πŸ˜‚so tried to get in a rhythm and get a few more but nothing was happening was trying everything a few chopped worms went in and a worm head and caster on the hook and I had another skimmer about a pound ish I then struggled putting the odd tiny roach and skimmer in the net and the last hour didn't have a bite except one greedy carp that came in after I splashed a pot of pellet and caster In from height and a second splash of water from height was just trying anything for a bite by this time titch managed to get a couple of skimmers and some small stuff between him catching carp thought he had caught me up.quite a few packed up early and didn't weigh in the end jonny page ran away with it weighing 22lb I scraped a pick up of £20 quid for 5th in the match with 5.02 pound jim 4th with 5.08 Andy πŸ‡«πŸ‡· 3rd with 12 pound Ron stark 2nd with 13 pound and pagey winning off the flyer as usual !!!! But a good day was had by most bit of laugh at shane pope who blanked ray bass had to give me pound as did mark one roach Thorne and Wayne staples!!! And I passed one on to deserved winner jonny page. Peace out and tight lines to all roll on summer !!!!

Hls club match 01.01.17

Today was the 1st match of the year for me decided to go and fish hls match at sedges. When I turned up usual bit of banter goin round cup of tea from Denise and she drew the golden pegs 5 and not sure of other one I said I'm gonna draw it today and that I did peg 5. When I got to the peg no wind looks lovely I plummed up at 14.5m slightly to an angle and again at 11m straight at the horn I put in quarter cup of micros and a 4 4mm expanders and thought il leave that for a while went on bomb and bread getting the odd liner as I slurped me coffee then twitch and a drop back lifted up and a nice lil skimmer around 2lb bargain so chucked it out again and not a lot happened by this time I was itching to go on the 14.5m line so first put in 5 quiet minutes passed and then float buried and then I netted a carp just over 8lb.so back in again with a small cad pot of micros and 2 expanders another quiet 5 mins then float goes again tiny skimbob 3oz ish from then on in I struggled the wind was pushing through hard and I could hardly hold pole so came shorter still couldn't hold it so back on the bomb and not a lot happened except I got very cold and wet I had a lil brawl with me brolley !!and decided to pack up there were quite a few who had enough I almost tipped my nets back but thought no never tip back and how right I was so loaded van and back for the weigh in I had 2.1 of silvers and 8.2 carp giving me not a lot πŸ˜‚ so on with the weighing not a lot was caught till round the other side a chap had 8lb of skimmers to take the silvers then ninja Eric had around 50lb of carp and beardsy in the corner had 27lb ish of carp so I still managed a pick up 2nd on silvers £20 for all my efforts bargain but did have to give big mouth beards a nugget πŸ™πŸ™ all good fun and a lil bit learnt towards silver series starting end of Jan. I'm new to this blogging lark but read a few other peoples and thought I'd give it ago thanks for reading and tight lines to all.
